Amitabh Bachchan: The undisputed “Don”

‘Coolie’, ‘Silsila’, Sholey, ‘Laawaris’, ‘Sharabi’, ‘Baghbaan’, ‘Sarkar’, his contribution to Bollywood film industry is endless!

Big “B” or the undisputed “Don” of Bollywood, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has given Bollywood numerous hits.

Amitabh Bachchan made his debue in Ahmad Abbas’s  “Saat Hindustani”.  But, he came to lime light with his role in “Anand” in (1971) alongside Rajesh Khanna, who was already a super star then.
Tall stature, Intense voice, brooding persona and average looks made him perfect candidate for representation of a common man, his unrest and struggle against society’s demons on screen. He was the rebel, the outcast or the restless one,” The angry young man” of the 70s.

Mr Bachchan’s initial years of acting were not very smooth as he had to steer through a lot of unsuccessful projects. "Zanjeer"(1973) was his first super hit film. Since then, he never looked back.

The angry young man of 70s has come a long way. After almost 45 years, Mr Bachchan has close to 200 Films including Hollywood projects to his credit. 



Amitabh Bachchan’s fame is not confined to the Indian subcontinent only. He has a huge fan following world over! He is also the first Asian who has a mannequin of himself in Madam Tussaud's Museum in England.

Amitabh Bachchan hails from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. 
His mother Late Teji Bachchan was an active member of the Satyagrah movement and his Father, Late Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a renowned Poet and writer of Hindi literature.

Amitabh Bachchan himself is an alumni of a reputed Kirori mal college of Delhi.




Amitabh Bachchan married Jaya Bachchan(Bhaduri) in 1976 and has a daughter Shweta and a son Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan is also a successful Bollywood film actor.

Apart from campaigning for a lot of international and national brands, Amitabh Bachchan also campaigns for Social causes, NGOs and Government run campaigns like polio Immunization program and other deadly diseases.



Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with Padma Shri Award in 1984 by the Government of India for his outstanding contribution to Indian film industry.
